San Pablo Pottery has been specializing in premium grade terracotta pottery for the last 20 years and we pride ourselves in the quality of our products. Tecate clay is unique because when it's high fired it produces the strongest pottery in Mexico. All of our pottery is high fired, then dipped in a sealer to ensure a long life. We stand behind our products with a lifetime guarantee.

How do we ship?

Due to our palletizing system, we have the lowest breakage rate in the business at only .25%. All of our pallets are designed to withstand L.T.L / D.C. cross docking. We ship by truckload with a minimum of 26 pallets and when the product allows it most pallets are double stacked in 53' trailers to reduce freight costs.

Mexican Terracotta Pottery of Tecate

There is a band of Tecate clay that is 25 miles wide and stretches from the Northern Baja border South 60 miles. This is the only place in the world that has this high quality clay that we consider the strongest in Mexico. Traditionally the clay has been used to make floor tile, roof tile and pottery.

How is it made?

It is made by combining the clay in its dry form with a binder then it will be grinded before soaking it in water after it is soaked it will be mixed to form the clay that will be made into a pot.

Molds are used to shape the pot, but the designs are still HAND made by the artisan. This process takes one week from throwing the pot, designing, drying and finally firing at high temperature for 12 hours.

You can tell a good pot if it is rosy red (good clay) and rings like a bell (high fire).

From the kiln the red clay pots are dipped in pottery sealer for longer life. Pottery is then labeled with upc bar codes and palletized per our customers instructions and shipped directly from our factory to the wholesaler or garden center.
